The Prince George’s Community Foundation Announces National Harbor Grants 2007

LANDOVER, Md., Jan. 15, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) — The Prince George’s Community Foundation (PGCF), a regional affiliate of The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region, has approved 30 grants totaling $329,000 from the National Harbor Community Outreach Grant Fund for 2008. The grants, ranging from $5,000 to $15,800, will support 30 nonprofit organizations in the areas of workforce development, arts and culture, education, recreation and social services for children, youth, young adults and senior citizens.

Cintron in No-Contest and Fox Wins at Sands in Bethlehem

Tuesday night at the Sands Event Center Marshall Kauffman’s Kings Promotion put on an 8 bout card featuring former champion Kermit Cintron and up and coming Mykal Fox in co-feature bouts.

In the co-feature former IBF Welterweight champion now Super Welterweight Kermit “El Asesino” Cintron, 39-6-3 (30) , of Reading, PA, and “Marvelous” Marcus Taylor, 8-1 (0) , of Houston, TX, was ruled no-contest at 0:35 of the third round due to clash of heads with an eye injury to Cintron.

In the first round already too many clinches. Referee Eric Dali warned Taylor for punching in the back and then behind the head of Cintron. In the second round Taylor landed a low blow causing referee Dali to give Cintron several minutes to re-coup. Cintron would lead with a jab but Taylor was not co-operating...

State Trooper Hit by Drunk Driver on Beltway in P.G. County

FORESTVILLE, Md. (Nov. 13, 2017)—A Maryland State Trooper was hit by a drunk driver while working in his patrol vehicle on I-495 in Prince George’s County early Saturday morning.

The trooper, identified as TFC Angel Ortiz, is a 7 year veteran of the Maryland State Police and is assigned to Forestville Barrack. He was transported to Prince George’s Hospital by ambulance where he was being treated for his injuries.

The accused is identified as Maurice Gresham, 51, of Lanham. Gresham was arrested for DUI and arrested without incident on the scene. He was transported to Forestville Barrack where he is currently being processed.
